Sevag Babikian is a Lebanese inventor who has participated in the latest season of the show Stars of Science. After 3 grueling months of hard work, Sevag has made it to the finals among 3 other contestants. Sevag received the highest grades by the judges of the show, and public voting will determine the winner.

Sevag’s project is a 5 Axis 3D printer that is a major upgrade from all existing systems in the market today. It has the potential to literally democratize the 3D printing technology making it accessible to every household. While 3D printing is not a new technology, Sevag’s work is the only substantial innovation that was done in the field in the past 5 years.

Sevag Babikian graduated with a Bachelor in mechanical engineering from AUB (class of 2010) then pursued a master’s degree with emphasis in mechatronics and robotics, with research involved in biorobotic locomotion. He is currently an instructor at the mechanical engineering department at the American University of Beirut (AUB). He is involved in the preparation and instruction of various courses including robotics, mechatronics, control systems and autonomous mobile robotics. In parallel, Sevag is involved in the local industry as he has designed and implemented various automation and robotic solutions, including the mechanical, electrical and control subsystems. He has been specifically involved in the food and plastics manufacturing industries. His freelance work also covers design and implementation of multidisciplinary interactive mechatronic systems and the development of prototypes for numerous hardware startups in Beirut.
