What They Do:
Dooda Solutions is a women-led earthworm farm specializing in vermicompost, an organic soil amendment that restores soil health, increases the yield per plant by more than double, increases the seed germination by 40%, and reduces irrigation requirement by 30%. In response to farmer needs, Dooda vermicompost comes in liquid and solid varieties and ensures farmers reduced costs while increasing harvests. They restore soil life through the positive power of worms.
Startup Experience:
“We heard many great things about the Agrytech Accelerator Program, and we were looking for technical and business expertise to take our business to the next level and ensure we were investment ready. So far, we have grown our team to a total of 7 employees whom we call family. We’ve increased our production capacity, gained knowledge in all business aspects, from sales to marketing and beyond. The Agrytech program also led us to next-stage opportunities where we’ve secured additional investments (up to 45,000 USD).
The crisis has allowed many problems to surface, allowing us to see our vision more clearly. Local food production and import substitution became a critical topic of discussion, globally, as huge supply-chain issues became apparent. We saw a grower’s movement towards farming and agriculture. People embraced small-scale farming, gardening and had a newfound appreciation for farmers. Further, the economic crisis forced farmers to reduce the application of chemical fertilizers due to the increase in prices. They began relying on affordable and more long-term solutions like vermicomposting.
We took this opportunity to shed light on the intimate relationship between the soil and our food chain, further fostering our mission to increase awareness to our soils and support soil health on a local and regional level. To address the increased demand for vermicompost products, Dooda has been investing time and money in expanding its farms and increasing production capacity. Today, Dooda operates in an 1,800 sqm farm with further plans to reach 150 tons of vermicompost per month, in the coming three years.
Our passion and love for worms is our secret to success. Our vision for a greener, worm-friendly future can be fulfilled with our experience in vermicomposting, operational excellence, and field knowledge. One of our recent proud moments is being chosen to join the Scaling Agri Food Innovations (SAFI), a program by Berytech and USAID to scale and receive coaching, technical, business, and in-kind support.
Our goal is to launch the full line of Dooda products, solid and liquid, that will cater to farmer’s needs along the entire plant life cycle. By the end of the program, Dooda will provide a 360° solution to farmers who are looking to improve their yields, reduce farming cost, achieve crop export standards, and improve our food supply chain. Essentially, we want everyone to fall in love with worms and soils the way we have.”
