Cleanergy Startups: Immersion Trip to YES!DELFT in the Netherlands

The selected startups, benefited from the exposure to European experts in preparation for a potential soft-landing program in the Netherlands

Berytech selected six startups from the two batches of the Cleanergy Accelerator Program to join an immersion trip to YES!DELFT, the accelerator of Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Netherlands.

The Yes!Delft accelerator, a leading tech incubator in Europe, is a partner of the Cleanergy Accelerator program, offering support and exchange for the startups in the program.

Forging Partnerships

The selected startups, who have an aspiration to expand internationally and specifically to Europe, benefited from the exposure to European experts in preparation for a potential soft-landing program in the Netherlands. The startups included:

Cloud Pads: With 80% of Menstruators disposable sanitary pads over any other product, Cloud aims to Redesign their Period Experience by producing a Period Pad that is healthy, yet 100% biodegradable and compostable using innovative plant-based materials.

Innergy: Innergy works on developing innovative energy efficient light-weight construction materials. Our goal is to reduce the energy bill of buildings while enhancing the indoor thermal comfort.

Partners with Sun: Partners with sun is Solar convection oven that is a standard bakery oven with a new heat exchange mechanism connected to an industrial solar panel. It can reach up to 250℃, and it has a high-end insolation material that keeps the temperature inside constant for long periods. It cuts 80% of a bakery’s diesel costs, saves production time by 25 %, and it has a warranty of more than 10 years.

ReGen-R8: The ReGen-R8 platform aims to bring renewable energy to anyone who needs on site/on demand power – quickly, affordably, and effortlessly. Our platform does not assume or require any specialist knowledge or experience on the part of the user to configure, operate or support – allowing us to supply our customers with friction-less access to power when and where it is needed.

PlastcLab: Plastc Lab is a tackling the garbage crisis in Lebanon by transforming plastic waste into valuable things in a fun educational way.

GoParkly: GoParkly motorists searching for a parking spot contribute to 30% of city traffic. Parkly is a mobile app that solves this problem by helping motorists find the nearest available spot. The app provides real time data of available spaces using image sensors equipped with ML algorithms.

A Unique Immersion Experience

The startups had the opportunity to have one on one mentorship sessions with YES!DELFT experts, and networking sessions with the Yes!Delft accelerator team, mentors, and startups. These sessions were organized to provide the startups with feedback on their investment pitches, especially to gear them towards the European market and pitching to European investors and potential partners.

Mohamad Matbouli, Founder of GoParkly, assured that “the team at YES!Delft was very adept, providing us with the best immersion experience a startup can have. Meeting with mentors was an eye-opener in the subjects of entrepreneurship, mobility, AI, and the startup journey.”

Sarah El Harouny, Co-Founder and CEO of Cloud Pads, explained: “Thanks to the trust instilled in us by the Berytech team, we have carried our vision to modernize Period Care all the way to Delft and Rotterdam. Although an exciting experience, it has however humbled us to the fact that Menstrual Health – both physical and mental that is – is still a severely undertreated topic in the East just like in the West. This pain unites Menstruators worldwide. Our mission is now clearer than ever.”

She added: “It was a week full of bright minds, exciting encounters, and meaningful support. I cannot but thank those who have made this trip so significant in Cloud’s Journey, from YES!DELFT team for their outstanding mentors, and for their feedback that truly echoed deep into Cloud’s strategy moving forward. And a special thanks to the passionate people at Berytech for trusting us with carrying the name of this program all the way to the Netherlands.”

The startups who joined the trip had expectations ranging from gaining insights into the startup ecosystem in the Netherlands and Europe, to the opportunity to pitch in front the Yes!Delft network and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

They were exposed to learning more about the cultural aspects of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Netherlands.

Joe Rahme, Co-founder of ReGen-R8, said: “The trip was amazing. We had the opportunity to see how things work abroad and learn from the experience of the YES!DELFT startups and mentors. It was an eye-opening experience: focus! You’ve got to standardize your product and find your beachhead market – otherwise, your business will be chaotic. The connections we made were worth a million dollars.”

The startups attended a network fare of Equans Innovation event at YES!Delft offices, where one stand was reserved for Berytech participants to showcase their innovations. It was an opportunity for the startups to network, connect, mingle with other energy startups

The startups also had the chance to attend the first edition of YOUNITE at Erasmus University, an event connecting social sciences, tech startups, and entrepreneurship in an inspirational atmosphere with a broad selection of speakers.

The Immersion trip was organized in partnership with YES!DELFT as part of the Cleanergy Accelerator Program by Berytech funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Lebanon.
