Are you a company or an established startup interested in developing a digital marketplace for recyclables? Apply to the USAID DAWERR Clearinghouse to receive up to $43,000 in grants along with technical and business support to build and own the platform.
Under the Diverting Waste by Encouraging Reuse and Recycling (DAWERR) activity funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by ECODIT, Berytech is organizing the DAWERR Clearinghouse co-creation bootcamp to support in developing a digital platform for source-separated recyclables to match demand and supply while ensuring transparency across the solid waste Recycling Value Chains (RVCs).
The DAWERR Clearinghouse activity is made up of four steps:
After successfully submitting the EOI, a round of shortlisting will follow. Selected teams will fill in another form to provide more details on their solution. A Technical Evaluation Committee will then evaluate the applications to shortlist 10 teams who will be invited to participate in the co-creation bootcamp in Step 2 below.
Held over four days, the DAWERR Clearinghouse co-creation bootcamp is an exciting opportunity allowing established companies and startups to learn about new trends, challenges and opportunities in the digital marketplaces, get inspired by success stories of other Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) or startups in the Solid Waste Management ecosystem, work with coaches and receive guidance to further develop the concept, pitch their business model to receive feedback from the jury, and get the chance to be selected among the three winners and join the incubation program.
The three winners of the co-creation bootcamp will move to a three-month incubation program and receive an in-kind grant of up to $3,000 each and all the information needed to finalize the details of their solution, setting the roadmap of activities, assessing their needs and challenges, and be matched with experts. At the end of this phase, the three winners will have to compete for the first prize to continue to the last phase of the DAWERR Clearinghouse.
Only one winning team will be selected to continue the incubation phase for an additional six months, receive a grant up to $40,000 in total over two years and receive the business and technical support needed to develop their Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
The program of the DAWERR Clearinghouse Co-Creation Bootcamp focuses on teamwork, networking, coaching sessions with local experts, learnings, applied knowledge and exchange of expertise to help you explore the market, as well as develop a valid business model for the clearinghouse while receiving technical and practical guidance and interaction with experts, developing your revenue model, developing your commercialization and go to market strategy, and presenting your solution to a jury.

“One company’s waste is another’s resource”.
“We are producing a tremendous amount of waste and most of it goes to landfill. One way to contribute to the recycling value chain is to get the recyclables into the marketplace and create demand for them. Nothing is really a waste; through the digital clearinghouse marketplace a second-life is given to recyclables and recycled products.”
