Dr. Ahmed Huzayyin holds a PhD in energy systems from the University of Toronto and a MSc. & BSc. Electrical Power Eng. from Cairo University. He manages the Eco-Industrial Department in Chemonics Egypt Consultants. 

His research and consultancy experience focuses on development of clean technology markets in MENA region. He has experience in serving numerous startups and large firms in managing growth and increasing competitiveness. He has worked extensively on access to green finance as well as policy development.

Ahmed Yassin is the cofounder and Marketing strategist of Banlastic Egypt. He finished his B.sc of Electromechanical Engineering, Alexandria University and he is now working as solar ambassador for solar city co. and is a Solar engineer in Egypt .He established a new platform called SOLAREGY to network all factories in Alexandria on a special basis to use clean energy as alternative to fossil fuels. Ahmed is working extensively at the development field through various programmes that promote development and SDGs.

He is the “Young Mediterranean Voices”(YMV) ambassador since 2019, after attending EU – Malta leadership training. He started the plastic pollution movement initiative in the YMV programme to create a plastic free-zone for Mediterranean basin countries. In late 2019 he Founded the 1st Med. Green transportation & E-Mobility Conference. Ahmed is also the current chief strategy councillor, trainer, moderator at MAC Club for Social Development , He had been advocating for climate crisis and was engaged in many projects around that cause and is also a member in “Egypt Ban Plastic” Coalition.
Ahmed Yassin is the Current Chief Strategy Councilor, Co-founder and trainer at Make A Contribution Club, a CSO which works in the social development at the prospect of contributing with the general community and widening the integration of various backgrounds.

As part of active participation in debating and dialouge , He is an active contributor ,debater ,Moderater and a keynote speaker in Erasmus Virtual exchange platform.In addition being an alumni to several national and international programmes under the auspices of European union.
Moreover, He started developing the NGO platform to add the dialogue as an important key of socializing and engaging more abandoned sectors via Contribution programmes. Also,He founded the Model of UK Parliament simulation programme which had a successful impact in Alexandria to introduce the moderated discussions to the youth.

Alain Tubiana is an international expert and consultant on cluster management. He has 9 years of experience as cluster manager in the Information Technology (IT) sector. In the past nine years he has conducted more than 40 missions for cluster organizations as well as governments and the European Commission both in Europe (France, Spain, Croatia, Slovenia,Lithuania,Turkey, Russia…) and abroad (Lebanon, Morocco, Mauritius, Tunisia, Algeria, Comoros, Madagascar, Seychelles and three French Overseas Territories, New Caledonia, La Réunion and Mayotte).

He works on public policy design or advice and cluster initiative support. He has trained more than 180 cluster managers on site and through distance learning. He has contributed to activate 14 cluster initiatives in various sectors like textile, automotive, IT, mechanics, creative industry, energy efficiency, agro-food, chemical industry, cosmetics and logistics in 9 different countries. He developed several projects to facilitate the technology transfer from laboratories to companies and has a strong experience in business support for SMEs. Alain Tubiana also has 20 years of experience as a consultant in economic development strategies for territories and project management. After studying public law and journalism, he started his professional career as communication officer.

He is head of the Master programme in Cluster Management at University of Strasbourg and lecturer at Kedge Business School.
He is member of the European Commission Expert Group on Clusters.

His last role was as a Regional Business Head of CPW Middle East – a joint venture between Nestlé Middle East and General Mills, and prior to that as Head of Marketing – Dairy Business Unit at Nestle Middle East, and earlier as Consumer Marketing manager at Nestlé Philippines.

Before that, Bassem was the head of an R&D division in a Beirut based digital agency, designing applications in natural human interfaces, computer vision, and machine learning.

After two years of successfully representing the GCNL within both the global network and externally vis-à-vis companies, governments and the media, Dina was appointed as the Executive Director. Dina oversees and executes the Global Compact Network’s strategy, value proposition and associated programs. She manages strategic partnerships with other UN agencies, governmental bodies and international organizations and advances thought leadership in areas of corporate sustainability. Dina is an expert in thought-leadership in current and emerging areas of corporate sustainability.

For the past two years, Dina showed excellence in the oversight of different GCNL workshops, seminars, and conferences that attracts innovative solutions to the Lebanese private sector in terms of the 17 sustainable development goals, the latest being the Making Global Goals Local Business Middle East. She guides the network’s programs and initiatives related to women empowerment, youth, anti-corruption, human rights and more.

Fabio Maria Montagnino

Head of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, The Cyprus Institute

After a degree cum laude in physics and a fellowship in experimental and computational biophysics at the University of Palermo and the Italian National Research Council, he moved to the industrial sector, where he managed both R&D and internationalization processes.

For the last twenty years, he’s been promoting open innovation models through the generation of knowledge-based startups, technology scouting and knowledge transfer actions in more than 30 project, dealing with various entities of the European innovation ecosystem (EEN, EU-BIC, EIT EU Living Labs). He directly established two incubators, and contributed to the implementation of many hard and soft infrastructures for innovation, as well as to the transfer of approaches and methodologies to EU partner countries in the Mediterranean area. He is considered among the European leaders of innovation ecosystems by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.

In the last decade, his interest has been focused on the holistic combination of creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation, towards the sustainable development perspective.

Ingrid Schwaiger

Ms. Ingrid Schwaiger is the Deputy Head of Regional Co-operation in the Southern Neighbourhood, DG NEAR (Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations) of the European Union, in Brussels since November 2015.

An economist by training, she has worked in the European Commission for more than 20 years, focussing on external relations. She has dealt with different economic and political issues, development cooperation, financial instruments as well as geographic responsibilities in the Eastern Partnership and the Southern Neighbourhood, including in the EU Delegation in Algeria.

Prior to joining the Alliance, Karyl worked for 12 years at BLC Bank, Lebanon, where she served as the Head of Product Development until she was assigned Head of Brand Management in 2013, leading the strategic planning process for the Bank’s brands to build the brand equity. She played a fundamental role in developing, implementing and overseeing the execution of We Initiative, the Women Empowerment program launched in 2012 by BLC Bank. During her years managing the We Initiative, she was a speaker at numerous international conferences and in 2016, was selected as one of the Global Banking Alliance for Women network’s “All-Star instructors”. Throughout her years at BLC Bank, she has trained more than 50 banks around the globe on how to develop a Women’s Market Program.

Karyl holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science and an MBA from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. In 2016, she received the AUB Computer Science Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award.

Laurent Pépin got a Ph.D in Genetics from University Orsay (Paris-Saclay). He was a researcher for 3 years at the laboratory of INRA in Jouy-en-Josas and CIRAD of Guadeloupe, then he did a 3-year post-doctoral stay at NIH, Bethesda, USA dedicated to molecular and cellular biology.

Laurent then joined a star-up in Clermont Ferrand developing a natural dye. Then, he worked in various commercial and industrial companies first as scientific support for high throughput sequencing then in different position in sales, marketing and Business Development in molecular and haemostasis diagnostic and for Contract Research Organisations in preclinical and genomics services, always in international positions.

Laurent has brought to Genopole his experience and network of more than 20 years at the national and international level with from start up to big pharmaceutical companies. Laurent joined Genopole at the end of October 2013.

Farrag is a digital media evangelist, founded his first company Mega Media in 1994 to become Egypt’s leading multimedia service provider. His work extended to cover innovative use of technology in advertising, communication and cultural heritage documentation.

He has received numerous advertising and content awards. In 2013 he co-founded Fifth Dimension–5d, a merger of 5 companies working in complementing aspects of digital and marketing domains to become a one stop digital marketing agency.

Being the creative and innovation director of 5d, he introduced augmented reality applications, game development, hologram projection and Virtual Reality as well as many innovative digital installations. In 2016 he co-founded 5dVR, a company specialized in creating VR/AR content and experiences.

Maroun N. Chammas is a successful Lebanese entrepreneur with activities ranging from Oil and Gas, to Telecom and F&B, as well as Technology and Innovation.

He entered into the world of entrepreneurship when he was only 12. His entrepreneurial drive led him and his brother in 1995 to become pioneers in Lebanon’s digital frontier, by establishing the first internet access company: Data Management, now known as IDM, and in 2018 by acquiring and reinvesting in Cablevision the largest content and TV broadcasting company.

Today, whilst representing the third generation of the Chammas family to become the vice chairman and general manager of MEDCO Holdings – the number one national oil and gas downstream company, and through his role as Chairman and CEO of Berytech since 2003, he plays an active and key role in shaping the ecosystem of Lebanon that nurtures and supports Lebanese innovation, venture capital and entrepreneurship.

He presides over several local and regional associations and was named Top Lebanese Business Leader and Innovator by Forbes Middle East, part of their Lebanon Top 100 special issue.

He launched the Maroun N. Chammas Recognition Award in 2018 to stimulate, recognize and reward technology innovation and excellence in sports in Lebanon.
