Communication & Outreach Officer – QOOT Cluster

Overview

The Communication and Outreach Officer for QOOT coordinates cluster activities, contributes to the execution of program Communication and Outreach strategies, manages information, and facilitates internal operations for the QOOT cluster in close collaboration with the Communication and Outreach department.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Communication & Outreach Officer’s key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing activities related to the strategic corporate communication and outreach plans for the QOOT cluster and its programs.
  • Maintaining the database (communities, speakers, suppliers, media).
  • Keeping a record of all department meetings.
  • Preparing reports and presentations.

Outreach:

  • Contribute to program management meetings and suggest new ideas to promote cluster activities.
  • Participate in industry events to network and identify new activities.
  • Outreach activities targeting key actors for QOOT cluster communication, such as media channels, journalists and Food writers, Chefs, Food bloggers and influencers.
  • Research worldwide trends and innovative ideas to apply within the cluster.

Event Management:

  • Assist in the event requirements for QOOT including event brief, target audience, program, partners, and objectives.
  • Assist in developing detailed proposals for each event including the action plan, budget, timeline, venue, supplier, staffing needs, budget requirements, logistics, branding requirements, etc.
  • Assist in the event including invitations, communications, scheduling, venue details, venue setup, entertainment, catering, IT requirements, resources requirement (team, mentors, guests…), pictures, and branding.
  • Keep inventory of all event material (roll-ups, flags, note pads and stationery, promo material, etc.

Communication and Content Creation:

  • Implement communication and outreach plans for each activity under QOOT Cluster.
  • Draft short-form and long-form content (mostly in English) covering QOOT and its activities.
  • Create different types of content to promote the cluster activities, announcements and events
  • Develop and execute periodical content plans covering QOOT cluster activities and highlighting QOOT cluster members.
  • Work on basic designs and templates following the guidance of the Office of Communication and Outreach at Berytech and get assistance in the case of advanced communication material.
  • Collect data for communication and outreach reports for all activities and social media engagement.
  • Maintain the calendar of content and activities, and schedule content on QOOT social media
  • Communicate with local, regional and international media outlets (in collaboration with the Office of Communication and Outreach at Berytech) to promote program-related features.
  • Update the QOOT website as needed.
  • Draft and send email announcements and content to the cluster stakeholders as needed.
  • Keep a record of all communication spending and liaise with the needed offices.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • Experience: At least 2 years as a communication junior officer/officer or marketing assistant/officer or similar role, preferably in NGOs or service companies.
  • Language: Fluent in Arabic and English, French is a plus.

Additional Skills

  • Knowledgeable in digital media tools and usage guidelines (Mailchimp, Hootsuite, WordPress, etc.)
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office programs and Marketing Software (ex. CRM).
  • Passionate about creating articles and rich content for media outlets.
