Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signed Between the Lebanese League for Women in Business (LLWB) and Berytech

Berytech x LLWB

Beirut, Lebanon – April 9, 2025 – A pivotal step toward advancing women’s economic empowerment in Lebanon was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Lebanese League for Women in Business (LLWB) and Berytech. The ceremony, held at Berytech Mar Roukoz, officially formalized a strategic partnership aimed at promoting gender equality and increasing women’s participation in business and entrepreneurship.

At the heart of the collaboration is a shared mission to foster inclusive leadership by equipping women with the tools, knowledge, and support systems necessary to access decision-making roles, particularly in corporate governance and entrepreneurship.

A Vision for Change

Through this MOU, LLWB and Berytech have committed to jointly developing a series of initiatives, including leadership development, entrepreneurship support, specialized training, and mentorship opportunities. The partnership addresses systemic challenges faced by women and aims to dismantle the barriers that continue to limit their representation in senior roles.

Special emphasis will be placed on training in governance, gender mainstreaming, legal frameworks, and anti-harassment policies, key areas that empower women to lead confidently and ethically in their respective industries.

Corine Kiame, President of LLWB, underscored the urgency of the mission.

“Only 8% of entrepreneurs in Lebanon are women, and of those, just 17% have access to financial support, a number that has dropped even further in recent years,” she said. “Additionally, 80% of women are graduating in arts and sciences, while the jobs of tomorrow lie in AI and technology. There’s an urgent need today to shift mindsets early on, to show young girls what’s possible, and equip them with the tools to access the careers of the future.”

A Unified Commitment

The event also highlighted the role of LLWB as a leading force in Lebanon’s gender equality movement. Through its various initiatives, LLWB has already engaged over 8,900 stakeholders, built a community of more than 800 members, nurtured 35+ success stories, and implemented nearly 20 active projects focused on advancing women’s inclusion across the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Maroun N. Chammas, Chairman and CEO of Berytech, expressed strong support for the collaboration.

“There is absolutely nothing that says women aren’t as capable, if not more, than men in many sectors. The quality and competencies are there. I’m really looking forward to supporting this mission, which I believe will resonate strongly, starting right here at Berytech,” he said.

Looking Ahead

The signing of the MOU represents more than just a formal agreement; it marks the beginning of a transformational journey. Together, LLWB and Berytech are poised to dismantle long-standing barriers and build a more inclusive, prosperous future for women in Lebanon’s business landscape. Their united efforts symbolize a powerful vision of equity, collaboration, and progress, one that will continue to inspire change for generations to come.
