Dr. Alain Osta is an academic leader, researcher, and entrepreneurship advocate based in Lebanon. He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Nicosia (Cyprus) and currently serves as the Chair of the Management Department and the Director of the Entrepreneurship Center (PULSE) at Université La Sagesse (ULS). Through these dual roles, Dr. Osta bridges academic rigor and real-world impact, particularly by empowering students to engage with the evolving entrepreneurial landscape in Lebanon and beyond.
As Director of the Entrepreneurship Center (PULSE) at Université La Sagesse, Dr. Osta has played a transformative role in fostering an entrepreneurial culture on campus. He believes that entrepreneurship is not merely an academic subject but a powerful vehicle for social and economic empowerment, especially critical in Lebanon’s complex and often unstable economic context. Under his leadership, the center has evolved into a dynamic platform that equips students with the knowledge, tools, and networks needed to move from ideas to action.
One of Dr. Osta’s primary strategies has been the development of strong partnerships with key stakeholders in the Lebanese entrepreneurial ecosystem. By actively collaborating with local startups, incubators, accelerators, NGOs, and international partners, he has created opportunities for students to connect with the broader innovation community. These partnerships allow students to participate in real-world projects, receive professional mentorship, and access support systems that nurture their entrepreneurial ambitions.
Dr. Osta has also championed student participation in entrepreneurship competitions and international collaboration initiatives. Notably, he has led the organization of the FEBA Entrepreneurship Competition in partnership with PeeL (Pôle entrepreneuriat étudiant de Lorraine – Université de Lorraine, France), encouraging cross-cultural innovation and exposure. In addition, his efforts have connected ULS students with EU-funded projects such as SE.TC (Social Entrepreneurship in Time of Crisis) is where students develop social enterprise ideas to address pressing societal challenges.
Dr. Osta has built a programmatic approach to ensure sustainability and impact, including mentorship, training, experiential learning, and community engagement. He oversees the delivery of workshops, speaker events, and tailored coaching sessions that align with each phase of the entrepreneurial journey, from ideation and business modeling to funding and scaling. He also encourages interdisciplinary collaboration among faculties to promote innovation across fields such as technology, Engineering, tourism, health, and creative industries.
Beyond his leadership at the center, Dr. Osta is an active researcher with a focus on Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare, Education and Entrepreneurship. He is a member of the Association for Information Systems (AIS), the Lebanese Chapter of AIS (LAIS), and a contributor to the ICTO (Information and Communication Technologies in Organizations and Society) conferences in France. His research examines how emerging technologies are reshaping business models, customer engagement, and organizational strategy, particularly in small and medium enterprises.
In his capacity as Chair of the Management Department, Dr. Osta has worked to align academic programs with market demands and future skills. He is committed to interdisciplinary learning and to equipping students not only with technical knowledge but also with critical thinking, adaptability, and a growth mindset.
Dr. Osta’s work reflects a deep commitment to education as a catalyst for opportunity. His ability to connect academic theory with practical implementation has made him a leading figure in advancing entrepreneurship education in Lebanon. By championing innovation, collaboration, and social impact, he continues to inspire students to take initiative and build ventures that contribute positively to society and the economy.
In sum, Dr. Alain Osta is a catalyst for change, empowering the next generation of Lebanese entrepreneurs to dream big, act boldly, and build a better future.
