Anne Valand

Head of Programme at United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Lebanon

With 15 years at WFP and an MA in International Development, Austrian national Anne Valand has built a strong track record in programme leadership and innovation.
Notably, Anne began her WFP career as a Programme Officer in Gaza (2009). Her last assignment before joining WFP Lebanon in 2022 was Head of Programme in WFP Syria (2019-2022).
Her experience also spans roles in Guatemala, WFP HQ (Cash-Based Transfers), Southern Africa, and Bangladesh. Prior to joining WFP, Anne worked in Central America, Chad, and China (2005-2009), consistently focusing on market-based solutions for food and nutrition insecurity in vulnerable contexts. Throughout her career, Anne has specialized in leveraging market-based approaches to address food and nutrition insecurity in crisis-prone regions.
