Pierre Baaklini is an environmental activist and the founder of Lebanon Waste Management (LWM), one of the country’s leading facilities specializing in solid waste recycling. LWM provides integrated waste management solutions to municipalities, households, educational institutions, businesses, and the hospitality sector, with a strong focus on its flagship initiative: the “Sorting from the Source” program, which promotes responsible waste separation at the point of generation.
In addition to LWM, Pierre is the visionary behind Drive Throw, an innovative drop-off center where individuals can exchange their sorted recyclables for cash—encouraging public participation in the circular economy through accessible and incentivized recycling.
Over the past five years, under Pierre’s leadership, his team has successfully recycled more than 60,000 tons of materials, earning both local and international recognition. In 2024, he was honored by the European Commission as the “Champion of Plastic Pollution Prevention in the Mediterranean”, a testament to his impact on environmental sustainability across the region.
