Reco-Cycle is a center that opened in 2021 and occupied an area of 65 sqm, for collecting sorted waste from homes and institutions. The project aims to create a more sustainable waste management system by encouraging the adoption of waste reduction practices such as composting, reusing, and upcycling waste materials. The facility received approximately 36 tons of waste annually (15 tons of plastics, 9 tons of metals, 7 tons of paper and cardboard, and 5 tons of others) from more than 604 households in the Rachaya caza.
The waste sorting project aims to solve inefficient management and high level of waste generation and disposal. The project aims to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills by promoting the sorting and recycling of various types of waste materials such as plastic, paper, and organic waste. By doing this, the project aims to reduce the negative impact of waste on the environment and human health, conserve natural resources, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
This project will create job opportunities, especially for the youth group, it could also generate employment in the collection of waste sorting facilities, management of sorting facilities, transportation and logistics of waste materials, and public education and awareness campaigns related to waste reduction and recycling. Additionally, recycling industries can benefit from a waste sorting project by having a more consistent supply of pre-sorted and recyclable waste materials, which can lower their operating costs and increase their profit margins. And the recycling industry will be the first beneficiary of this project, as the sorts.
