Sarah Al Charif

Lebanon Director at Ruwwad Al Tanmeya NGO

Sarah Al Charif is the Lebanon Director of Ruwwad Al Tanmeya NGO since inception in 2012 until present. She has been leading the community development organization in Tebbaneh and Jabal Mohsen in Tripoli, in a center situated at the front lines between the 2 disenfranchised communities witnessing previous rounds of sectarian clashes. She drives positive change in sensitive areas, by fostering post-conflict reconciliation through education, economic empowerment, civic engagement, social entrepreneurship and peacebuilding. Sarah’s commitment to women’s advancement led her to establish Atayeb Tarablos, a community kitchen, and more recently, Beit El Mina Social Restaurant, both under Ruwwad, supporting financially distressed women affected by armed conflict while contributing all sales proceeds to youth education.

Recognized as a young leader and influencer, she participated in the EU Visitors Program (EUVP Program) and was nominated as a Future Leader (Personnalité d’avenir) by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the French Embassy in Lebanon (PIPA Program). Sarah’s notable engagements include representing Lebanon at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Summit in 2018 and being an alumna member of esteemed programs such as The Swedish Institute – She Entrepreneurs Program, Global Shapers Community, World Economic Forum, INSEAD – Social Impact Entrepreneurship Program and THNK School of Creative Leadership Global Network.

Sarah is a member of the Women’s Peacebuilding Network in Lebanon (WPNL), bringing together women engaged in peacebuilding, mediation, and negotiation at various levels, and is a member of the Taskforce for Tripoli Network (TFT).

Educationally, Sarah holds an MBA from the American University of Beirut (AUB) and a Bachelor’s degree in Business from the Lebanese University. She is a Social Entrepreneur, a Social Activist, and a Leadership Development Trainer, as well as an accredited Coach.
