Smart Gourmet is a healthy authentic Lebanese food company founded in 2016 by Jad Atallah a serial entrepreneur along with his best friend, a Lebanese experienced chef Charbel Kyrrillos and food expert Nancy Mahfouz Atallah.
Smart Gourmet developed by mid-2015 and validated by mid-2017 an innovative cooking and packing process technique which extends the shelf life of gourmet meals for up to one year, with no preservatives, preserving the taste and health benefits (vitamins, nutrients). Aside from its existing facility in Lebanon, the company plans to build three more facilities over the next four years: one to cater for the GCC market, one to cater for the European market, and one to cater for the U.S. and Canada. However, Smart Gourmet needs ISO 22000 to conclude the export deals. They also need lab tests for five new SKUs, that will be produced for export before they introduce them into the market.
LED will assist in finding the right consultant for Smart Gourmet to prepare them for ISO 22000 and will cost-share for the consultancy. In addition, LED will cost-share the part of the test lab for the new SKUs introduction. With LED’s support, the company expects to increase its sales and generate 35 new jobs by 2020.
