Maroun El Hachem joined Berytech in February 2023 as a Cluster Officer for QOOT. He supports the team in the execution, follows up and monitoring of the cluster’s various activities, and finds the program’s mission to match perfectly with his own vision of the Lebanese agri-food sector.
Maroun graduated in 2022 with a Diploma in Agricultural Engineering from the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) with high distinction and ranked first in his class. During his education, he managed to get internships in the leading agricultural companies of Lebanon such as Exotica, Daccache Agriculture and Debbane Agri. After graduating, he had the opportunity to work in the NGO field as an enumerator at USAID.
In addition to his education, Maroun manages two agricultural farms. In 2020, he established an avocado orchard of 1000 trees that he conceived, designed, and executed entirely by himself. He is expecting to produce 30 tons of avocados yearly by 2025. Maroun monitors his staff, and crops, purchases all the supplies, prepare budgets and reports, and ensures maximum profit. In addition, he manages an apple farm belonging to his family constituted of 2000 trees and producing yearly 100 tons of apples exported to the Gulf.
Maroun finds satisfaction while helping others and drawing a smile on their faces. He engaged in different humanitarian activities such as volunteering at Sesobel. In addition, in 2020, he and his friends founded and managed an initiative named Beirut Santa which aims to collect gifts and settle scholar tuitions every year for children in deep need.
Maroun loves spending quality time with his family and friends. Furthermore, he is passionate about discovering new places, traveling, cooking and connecting to nature through several activities such as gardening and hiking.
