Changemaker Festival 2018

Berytech is proud to be participating in and sponsoring the 2018 Changemaker Festival.

 

The Changemaker Festival – Hult Prize 2018

The Changemaker festival will take place on September 8th and 9th in Beirut, Lebanon, and will host thousands of students and youth from around the region and the world who want to be the change.

 

It will feature workshops, pitch competitions, drawing competition, photography competition, music, a food truck line-up, and some of the most inspiring speakers across industries. The event will feature keynote speakers like Mr. Ahmad Ashkar, founder of the Hult Prize Foundation.

 

In partnership with Banque Du Liban, Hult Prize, BLOM Bank, Beirut Digital District, Careem, and Berytech, it will also host the 2018 Hult Prize Lebanon Finals, where $250,000 of seed funding will be awarded to a top startup. The festival operates at the intersection of education, youth, entrepreneurship and impact. We seek to bridge the gap between youth and top local and international decision makers to create broad-based partnerships that inspire action and deliver lasting and sustainable social change.

How applying to competitions helps you start your journey as an entrepreneur

Workshop Led by Krystel Khalil, Programs Director at Berytech

 

The session will cover:

• What it takes to jump from an idea to a startup project (tips and recommendations)
• Support and opportunities within Berytech ecosystem (incubation opportunities)
• Available competitions/process and tips to develop successful application forms
• Testimonial from an entrepreneur: how applying to competitions pushed him to create his startups
• Q&A/advisory for participants interested in our competitions

Digital Fabrication and the makers movement 

Led by Wael Khalil, Berytech Fab Lab Coordinator

 

Learn how joining the Berytech Fab Lab can teach you new skills. This is your opportunity to boost your creativity and employability profile as well as learn by building on our cool machines. Design your own objects (from key holders to robots, furniture, connected machines, and anything else you can think of!)

The session will cover:

• An introduction to the makers community: what is a Fab Lab and its history.
• A brief description of Berytech Fab Lab, its mission and benefits.
• Available lab capabilities and technologies: an introduction to the wide range of projects that could be built in the Berytech Fab Lab, with demonstration of projects made in the lab.
• How you can be a part of the Fab Lab community: learn how you can be a part of and collaborate with the makers community in Lebanon.
• Q&A for participants interested in the Fab Lab.
