Meet The Speakers

PANELIST

Gaby Kassab

Founder and President of ECOSERV

Industrial Engineer by formation with a Masters degree in econometrics, and a PhD in Strategic Planning from Columbia University 

His extensive technology related experience spanned over many years in CEO and EMEA Regional Director positions with large Hi-Tech Corporations (Data General, Nokia, QActive for smart Technologies,..) has provided him with a deep understanding of the many facets and challenges of electronics and other toxic waste, and their proper end-of-life ecological disposal.   

He is the Founder and President of ECOSERV for Environmental Sustainability, an NGO focusing on sustainable electronic waste treatment. The NGO is currently among those leading the Climate for Change in Lebanon by offering services towards green CSR, through e-waste solutions and social awareness.

Pierre Baaklini

Founder and CEO of Lebanon Waste Management

Pierre started the LWM company as a single initiative to sort the waste directly from the source, then this family that was made of 1 person started to grow and now we are 14 motivated team members. LWM is providing many services like sorting from the source program, treating polystyrene, the Eco-wedding package and the Zero-waste events.

Dominique Salameh

Senior Expert in Chemical Engineering, Fermentation Process and Environment

Dominique Salameh is currently the Head of Continuous Learning and Training Department and Doctoral Programs at the Faculty of Sciences of Saint Joseph University. He was previously the Chair of the Chemistry and the head of environment program at arcenciel NGO, where he established and managed several activities such as the Lebanese network of healthcare waste management. 

Dominique is the co-founder of the association arcenciel.france. He has an intensive experience in strategy and waste management systems, with focus on hazardous waste treatment, aerobic and anaerobic digestion where he supported through consulting several national and international organizations. 

He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and Environment and a Habilitation Diploma (HDR) – Research strategies and projects management from Toulouse University. He also holds an MBA from Paris Dauphine and Paris Sorbonne University. His main research activities study composting processes, anaerobic waste to energy fermentation, life cycle assessment and healthcare waste treatment. 

He was granted as Energy Globe Award Winner by Advantage Energy Globe Award.

Our country has suffered during the last decade from high deterioration in the infrastructure and hygiene sectors in addition to the high cost of operating and consuming energy and water. The aim today is to create a community of entrepreneurs and an orbit of experts and supporters, leading to the creation of startups that would serve the local, regional and international needs. The educational series is showcasing a number of key experts alongside successful entrepreneurs in each of the following sectors, in recurring weekly webinars.
