As part of the Global Entrepreneurship week, Berytech is organizing a special edition of Berytech Meetups powered by GIST hosting the international expert on Intellectual Property, Mark Abumeri, Esq. 

In his interactive talk, Mark will cover worldwide IP protection in-depth including how to define innovation, how to initiate protection in Lebanon and internationally, how to identify the critical markets for patent protection depending on the technology, and how to leverage the patented technology for generating revenues.

About the speaker

Mark Abumeri is involved in the practice of all aspects of intellectual property (IP) law with a focus on complex patent matters pending before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and international patent authorities, ranging from petitions/appeals to post-grant proceedings. Mark has extensive experience in managing significant patent portfolios, developing offensive/defensive IP strategies, and rendering opinions concerning infringement/validity of patents. His clients range from small startups to large corporations.

With his balanced experience in patent prosecution, transactional matters, and litigation, Mark is uniquely positioned to offer adept advice on complex issues of patent law. He has been an Adjunct Professor teaching various topics in patent law for over ten (10) years. Mark has also served as a patent law expert in court matters and other proceedings.

Prior to joining Knobbe Martens, Mr. Abumeri served as a Judicial Extern to The Honorable Herman J. Weber at the United States District Court in Cincinnati, Ohio. For five years, Mark worked as a Systems Engineer for Harris Corporation, RF Communications Division in Rochester, New York. While at Harris Corporation, he designed and implemented wireless communication systems for voice and data applications.

Mr. Abumeri joined the firm in 1996 and became a partner in 2002.
