ACTIVITY BRIEF

Berytech is selecting 10 dairy-preneurs and SMEs with innovative technologies or products in the dairy sector to exhibit during the three days of the Agri-food Innovation Days (AFID) 2022 happening on March 22, 23 & 24  at the Seaside Pavilion in Beirut.

In addition to exhibiting, the 10 selected businesses will benefit from matchmaking sessions organized to allow dairy-preneurs to build long lasting partnerships and exposing them to funding and investments opportunities from key actors in the dairy sector.

For this activity, each of the selected businesses with benefit from a support voucher worth 1200 euros to showcase their innovations. This unique opportunity aims to boost the business capacity of the startups, help them gain visibility and benefit from open innovation opportunities with leading companies. 

WHO CAN APPLY

  • Innovators and entrepreneurs working on Dairy Value Chain solutions with a product or prototype in the Dairy, ICT, or Bio/Nano technologies industries looking for partnerships and seeking investment.
  • Startups, SMEs, Cooperatives having a product or prototype in the Dairy, ICT, or Bio/Nano technologies industries looking for partnerships and seeking investment.
  • Farmers with a product or prototype in the Dairy, ICT, or Bio/Nano technologies industries looking for partnerships and seeking investment.
  • Participants from Lebanon, Tunisia, Greece and Italy are eligible to apply.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Participants must have an innovative idea, a product, a prototype, or entity addressing the Dairy Value Chain opportunities to showcase during the event.
  • Participants should demonstrate economic viability and combine innovation, applicability, and team experience.
  • Startups, SMEs and entrepreneurs should have at least proof of concept.

KEY BENEFITS AND OPPORTUNITIES

  • Exposure to more than 1500 stakeholders in the agri-food and agri-tech field.
  • Access to a support voucher worth 1200 euros that will be used to provide exposure, branding booth, etc.
  • Showcasing the product or prototype at the AFID2022 Startup Village over 3 days.
  • Connection and exchange of best practices with other likeminded people in the field of dairy and agri-tech.
  • Participation in tailored matchmaking sessions based on needs, whether with investors, partners, mentors, suppliers etc.
  • Access to funding opportunities by networking with major regional investors and build long-lasting partnerships with actors in the sector.
  • Access to live workshops and panel discussions to learn about the newest trends and topics in the sector.
  • Access to the Transdairy regional online collaborative platform which features a database of Dairy Value Chain regional demand and offer and allows communication and networking among regional innovators, suppliers, partners, prospective clients, etc.

TRANSDAIRY ACTIVITIES DURING AFID

  • Startup Village

10 startups, SMEs and entrepreneurs will be showcasing their innovation at the startup village over the 3 days.

  • Matchmaking Activity

B2B and matchmaking sessions will be scheduled during the event upon the needs of the entrepreneurs over the 3 days.

ABOUT AFID

Berytech and ENI CBC MED will be partnering in the Agri-Food Innovation Days (AFID) 2022  under the umbrella of the TRANSDAIRY Program. The event will take place on the 22, 23 and 24 of March 2022 for the third consecutive year, bringing together Lebanese agri-food companies under one roof to showcase innovations in the agri-food sector while promoting the different programs and initiatives at Berytech. 

ABOUT TRANSDAIRY

Transdairy is a project funded by the European Union under the ENI CBC Med Program to grow innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities in the Dairy Value Chain and empower this ecosystem in the Mediterranean. The project will use the open innovation and living lab methodology to bring stakeholders together including researchers, industry players, SMEs, representatives from the public sector, entrepreneurs, to exchange best practices, collaborate and implement Key Enabling Technologies and solutions applied to the Dairy Value Chain.

Throughout this project, Berytech will be facilitating the setup of Innovation Living Labs, supporting the development, and financing of innovation and entrepreneurship projects, and enable matchmaking and collaboration opportunities between different stakeholders in the Dairy Value Chain in Lebanon and the Mediterranean

EU-funded project under the ENI-CBC Med Program

Home to some of the world’s most ancient civilizations, hub for trade and transport, unique hotspot for biodiversity, the Mediterranean faces a multitude of common challenges, including climate change, pollution, youth unemployment and social inequality.

Acting together to address these challenges and improve the lives of men and women across the region is the impetus for the 2014-2020 ENI CBC “Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme”. ENI CBC Med is the largest Cross-Border Cooperation (CBC) initiative implemented by the EU under the European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI).

The Programme brings together the coastal territories of 14 EU and partner countries, including Lebanon, in view of fostering fair, equitable and sustainable development on both sides of the EU’s external borders.
