Restaurant Al Shams مطعم الشمس in Anjar is a tourist destination in Bekaa. It began in 1975 as an ice cream shop. Today, it has expanded to include four snack shops: two in Zahleh, one in Bar Elias, and one in Anjar. The company also owns a hotel, with large swimming pool; two wedding venues; and “Shams Palace”. Lastly, Al Shams group plans to open two new restaurant concepts, Bayt al Lebnane and The Glass Restaurant, in 2019.
As the company expanded, adding the four snacks, hotel, resort and wedding venues, Al Shams now needs improved management, human resource, and financial systems. “Soft” upgrades are needed to match the company’s physical upgrades.
LED and Al Shams will cost-share for a local consulting firm to work with the company’s owner and management team to develop systems, procedures, structures, and accountability mechanisms to improve the group’s entire operations and human resource base, while focusing on how to improve and maintain the quality of the food and customer experience across all Al Sham’s restaurants, but particularly at its two new concepts.
With LED’s assistance, Al Shams expects to increase its sales and generate 80 new jobs by 2020.
