Al Wafa Trading and Industry, doing business as Al Raghad, a manufactures high-quality tahini, halawa, Turkish delight, and other Lebanese delicacies. It was established in 2007 on the Lebanese sea side in Sibline.
Al Raghad is currently in discussions with an international buyer who is interested to import and distribute Al Raghad products. However, the deal requires that the company obtain FSSC 22000 certification, a condition imposed by Canadian retail chains within the global food safety initiative.
LED and Al Raghad will cost-share to hire a consultant who will support Al Raghad to review and upgrade its food safety management system in line with FSSC 22000 requirements so that the company can pass the certification audit and obtain the required certificate. With LED’s assistance, Al Raghad expects to increase sales significantly and generate 9 new jobs by 2020
