Alfa Co is a prominent animal feed company in Beqaa. The company sells mainly feed to local dairy companies and cattle farmers, but also export some quantities.
Alfa Co has an opportunity to boost its sales to two buyers if it can obtain a Quality Management System certification. Also, Alfa Co can boost its sales to its current buyers, local dairy farms and specifically one of the largest dairy farms in Lebanon. In parallel, Alfa Co will coordinate with its farmer-suppliers, supporting them and buying from them their total production which will increase the income of farmers and replace imports of certain crops.
The main barrier affecting this deal is that Alfa Co must have a Quality Management System in place for these buyers to increase their purchases of feed from the company.
Alfa Co needs to obtain ISO 9001 first in order to obtain ISO 22000. LED agreed to cost-share with Alfa Co to hire a Quality Management Expert to assist the company in implementing the changes that are required for getting the ISO9001 standard certification.
With LED’s assistance, the company expects to increase sales and create 6 new jobs by 2020.
