Lakkis farm is a dairy and a meat company that was established in 2000 as a small farm in the Bekaa countryside that quickly grew into one of the top-ranking dairies and meat supplies in the region.
In 2018, the company opened a new meat processing plant in Beqaa. Their customers are restaurants, snacks, hotels and catering businesses.
Lakkis Farms is currently discussing opportunities to enlarge its contracts to supply meat to two current major clients. Both deals are pending; subject to Lakkis Farms obtaining the ISO 22000 certification.
Accordingly, LED will cost-share with Lakkis Farms to hire a consultant who is an expert in ISO 22000 to assist the company to obtain the certification.
LED assistance is important because Lakkis Farms’ management does not have the experience implementing ISO 22000 and this was delaying the company’s ability to close these larger deals. However, with LED support, the company expects to increase its sales and create 12 new jobs by 2020.
