Klatchi nuts were founded in 2006 by Mr. Saleh Chmeit in Bakaata, Chouf. It was basically a one-person operation whereby Mr Chmeit roasted a small quantity of nuts to be sold in his store. In 2010, he was joined by his son, Yehya, who worked diligently on expanding Klatchi Nuts activity in Chouf where he began to sell nuts to small retail stores in the area.
Today, Klatchi Nuts products are displayed in many retail outlets and several restaurants and hotels.Klatchi is negotiating deals with buyers in Kuwait, Australia, Liberia and Bahrain. These buyers are interested in purchasing Klatchi Nuts full range of products of raw nuts, roasted nuts and dried fruits. The deals can be sealed once the company acquires the ISO certification.
LED will cost-share with Klatchi Nuts to hire a consultant to guide the company in implementing an Integrated Management System comprised of ISO 9001 and ISO 22000.
With LED’s support, the company expects to increase its sales and create 17 new jobs by 2020.
