Call For Dairy Researchers to benefit from €2,000 voucher to publish their research in the dairy sector.

About the Call

As part of the Transdairy Living Lab activities, Berytech will select 2 dairy researchers who are looking to develop and publish articles on Key Enabling Technologies in the Dairy Value Chain (ICT and Bio/nano).

The finalists from Lebanon partnering with authors from the same or from a different institution will benefit from a 2,000-euro voucher, which will enable them to publish their research and technology in the dairy sector.

The objective of having co-publications is to strengthen the relationship among different key research institutions in the dairy sector and promote key insights, data and knowledge in the sector.

Additionally, the vouchers will give the opportunity to dairy researchers or technologists to publish the outcome of their findings and make it more visible to the dairy stakeholders and the community in Lebanon and the Mediterranean.

Who can apply

  • Innovators, and key enabling technology providers (KET) within the Dairy Value Chain sector are interested in publishing their research.
  • Researchers, Faculty Members, Lab Members working on developing a publication on KET in the DVC.

Selection Criteria

  • Research should showcase clear data and results.
  • One of the authors must be a resident of Lebanon.
  • Article must be published in Lebanon.
  • Authorship should be composed of 2 different authors either from the same institution (but different departments) or from different institutions.
  • Research should be published in an Open Access Journal.

Key Benefits and Opportunities

  • Access to a voucher of 2,000 euros to publish a research paper in an open-access journal.
  • Access to the Transdairy regional online collaborative platform which features a database of Dairy Value Chain regional demand and offers and allows communication and networking among regional innovators, suppliers, partners, prospective clients, etc.

Invitation to participate and benefit from the subsequent Transdairy activities for 2023, which include:

  • Entrepreneurship Training Program and Focus Groups on innovation management, benchmarking, technology transfer etc.
  • Cross Border Brokerage Events: Matchmaking opportunities between innovators and investors on a regional level.
  • Specialized Training in innovation management, benchmarking technology transfer etc.

The Program's Timeline

Intensive Bootcamp

15 November 2021 | 3:00pm – 7:00pm

20 participants will be selected to participate in a 6-day intensive virtual bootcamp. The bootcamp’s program consists of fully funded sessions by the EU under the ENI CBC Med Programme, providing the participants with a set of entrepreneurship skills and know-how, and access to:

  • Receive technical and practical guidance and interaction with experts
  • Develop their own business model 
  • Learn about intellectual property 
  • Develop their commercialisation and market strategy
  • Develop a process for technology protection
  • Learn about basic financial modelling and funding opportunities
  • Address sustainability and CSR practices in the Dairy Value Chain
  • Prepare their pitch to present it to experts and potential investors

The participants will also each receive a voucher of 200 to use in a way that serves the initiation of their project (such as creating a prototype, design & marketing, business consultancy, etc.) once they submit their pitch deck.

Pitching

November 2021 | During the Open Day

Following the completion of the training, the participants will pitch their solution to a jury. The Jury will shortlist 10 participants based on innovation, economic viability and solid proof of concept of the solution. They will take several one-to-one coaching and technical sessions with experts in the field to further develop their pitch decks.

These 10 participants will present during the Transdairy Open Day, which will take place at the end of the year 2021.

About Transdairy

Transdairy is a project funded by the European Union under the ENI CBC Med Program to grow innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities in the Dairy Value Chain and empower this ecosystem in the Mediterranean. The project will use the open innovation and living lab methodology to bring stakeholders together including researchers, industry players, SMEs, representatives from the public sector, entrepreneurs, to exchange best practices, collaborate, and implement Key Enabling Technologies and solutions applied to the Dairy Value Chain.   

Throughout this project, Berytech will be facilitating the setup of Innovation Living Labs, supporting the development and financing of innovation and entrepreneurship projects, and enable matchmaking and collaboration opportunities among different stakeholders in the Dairy Value Chain in Lebanon and the Mediterranean.
