A future for agricultural technology in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has approved a series of incentive packages amounting to $272 million for local and international agriculture technology firms. This move aims at encouraging such companies to set up a base in the Emirates making it a hub for agricultural technology in the region leading to the creation of employment opportunities in Abu Dhabi.

We can only hope that our government will realize the importance of investing in agricultural innovations and do something similar in Lebanon, a la circular 331. While there are private sector investors in agricultural technology in Lebanon, it is time that the public sector steps in as well.
