AgriFood innovation in growth

The article gives an overview of the performance of AgriFood technology in 2018 stating that $17 billion were invested in agrifood technology in 2018 making it an established venture capital sector.

While the majority of investments were into startups that benefitted end users or consumers, there were also significant investments made into startups which designed solutions for the agricultural challenges that farmers tend to face.   

According to the articles, these sizable investments are a good sign that improving “the world’s broken food systems” could be achieved through technology.

Lebanon has also witnessed a good year for agrifood tech with Berytech’s accelerator program Agrytech and the launching of the agri-food innovation cluster Qoot.
