Hadil Ankouny

GIL Program Manager at Berytech

Hadil Ankouny is currently the Program Manager of the implementation of new sustainable Fab Labs in Lebanon within The Generation of Innovation Leaders (GIL) – a program by UNICEF managed by Berytech.

She is a product designer, maker and inventor. Hadil graduated from ALBA with a bachelor’s degree in interior architecture in 2010, and a master’s degree in Landscape architecture in 2013.

Hadil has been working in the design field in Lebanon for 10 years. She worked in interior design and architecture at the beginning of her career. She managed site operations and the implementation of many high-end commercial projects.

In 2014 she decided to follow her passion for technology, she pursued a master’s degree in advanced design and digital architecture at ELISAVA in Barcelona, where she gained great experience and exposure to Fab Labs and digital fabrication.

She came back to Lebanon and founded Fab Lab Beirut in 2015, where she supported entrepreneurs and makers with their projects. She was able to start her design line with the first furniture collection BAFT, where she tackled the idea of art and technology in a collection that is inspired by earth patterns.

She was part of Beirut makers and Beirut design week in 2017 where she showcased her second design collection TAY.

Hadil has a passion for design education. Since 2017, she has been teaching at Phoenicia University, where she is involved in the design foundation studios and software courses. She founded Higher Hybrids, a platform for design education where she teaches Digital Design and Fabrication for makers from different backgrounds, ages and interests. She is passionate about Inventing and making and believes that sustainable industries, and design thinking education are key to smart cities and innovative societies.
