Theresa El Chahrouk El Maalouf

Program Officer

Theresa El Chahrouk El Maalouf joined Berytech in January 2024 as a Program Officer for the REAF program. She holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Lebanese University and specializes in Agribusiness and Rural Development. In order to get a wider view of her major, Theresa interned in plant production and protection at a Lebanese agricultural association during her studies. She also holds
a Master’s degree in Agricultural and Territorial Management from CIHEAM – IAMM in France, where she studied the different impacts of Climate Change on territories and their capacities of adaptation toward
a more sustainable agriculture.

As part of her Master’s thesis, Theresa did a six-month internship with a European Project as a Research Intern. The internship included fieldwork in Mauritania where she worked with GRGR, an INGO in
Nouakchott. She assessed the agricultural needs of farmers and helped the project gain a clearer perspective on the Mauritanian study area and its potential for sustainability. Through this experience,
she discovered her love for helping people embrace sustainable values and environments.

Apart from her work, Theresa is passionate about discovering new cultures and always tries to get out of her comfort zone. She is also a fan of science fiction movies, anime and documentaries. During her free time,
Theresa enjoys listening to good music, reading thriller crime books, and spending time with her family and friends.
