ZOOM IN: LVPx, Upcycling & Customized Embroidery

While working on client pieces with the artisans, we train and prepare them to carry out a very high standard of work and studio etiquette enabling them to successfully and professionally collaborate and work with other companies or brands from local or foreign markets.

What They Do:

LVPxAlsama is an upcycling and embroidery service where clients can send their clothes or home-wear and get them uniquely hand-embroidered by female artisans living in Beirut. Clients can customize colors and placements before the items are returned to them beautifully packaged and uniquely revived.

Startup Experience:

“We support marginalized and struggling artisan communities in Lebanon by providing straightforward, sustainable, and continuous work coming from local and foreign markets to support and encourage their precious heritage skills.

While working on client pieces with the artisans, we train and prepare them to carry out a very high standard of work and studio etiquette enabling them to successfully and professionally collaborate and work with other companies or brands from local or foreign markets.

I’ve joined the STAND UP! Accelerator Program to develop my business skills hoping to benefit from the valuable training the program offers. In the past few months, I have tried, tested, and optimized several production run-throughs to make sure that my idea and product are solid. Our recent pop-up event took place in September and was a huge team effort and success.

The consecutive crises had a huge impact on us. On one hand, the blast is the reason we launched the project initially, and then the quiet months of the second lockdown let us really focus and build up a serious functioning model and supply chain.

Throughout, we just kept working, organized several collections, had many long phone calls, and celebrated in the end by organizing a big physical celebratory event, where we promoted, sold, and shared what we have done in the last year.

For the upcoming months, we’re working to have a more structured financial back-office system, a clear and efficient website, and a webshop to grow our client base including places such as the Far East, US, and Gulf.”

The startup is part of the STAND Up! Accelerator program.
