The Future Agro Challenge is a global competition that targets food and agribusiness startups from various corners of the globe including Lebanon.

About The Competition

Since 2017, Berytech has partnered with Future Agro Challenge (FAC) to catalyze innovation in the agri-food industry and bring you the FAC competition.

This global competition targets food and agribusiness startups from various corners of the globe addressing national, regional, and global challenges.

In Lebanon, Lebanese agri-food startups compete in the local competition to win the title of “Lebanese Agripreneur of The Year” along other valuable cash and business support prizes.

The winner of the local competition makes it to the international finals to represent Lebanon at the Global Agripreneurs Summit and compete with the most promising agri-food startups from across the world for the title of “Agripreneur of the Year”.

The competition is co-funded by the Kingdom of The Netherlands and Berytech in Lebanon, and is organized under the Agrytech Accelerator Program.

Who Can Apply

The competition is open for entrepreneurs with an innovative idea or startup related to Food Tech, Ag Tech, Agroforestry and Husbandry, Food or Beverage Product or Retail, Nutrition & Health, Safety and Health, Packaging and Logistics, Agriculture Education, Food Security and Sustainability, Agriculture Tourism, Food Waste, Agriculture Production and Processing.

You can apply if:

Your new venture:
- is younger than 5 years
- has an innovative or scalable business idea or model in the agrifood innovation sector (ranging anywhere from farm to fork)
- transforms a community, a nation, a region, or have global impact
- has a Minimum Viable Product
- has clear business model and customer segment
- has received market traction
- has a unique, strong and applicable technology or innovation
One of your team members:
- is proficient in the English language
- has no hesitancy to talk about your venture in public

Out of all the applications submitted online, 10 shortlisted applicants will participate in the local FAC competition and pitch their idea to the public and the jury.

How it Works

Shortlisted applicants participate in the local competition and pitch in front of a local public.

The First Place Winner of FAC Lebanon earns the title “Lebanese Agripreneur of the Year” and receives:

An invitation to compete internationally at the Global Agripreneurs Summit that is taking place at the Global Entrepreneurship Congress
$2000 in Cash
6-month access to Berytech’s Incubation Support
6-month membership at the Berytech Fab Lab

The Second Place Winner of FAC Lebanon receives:

$1000 in Cash
3-month access to Berytech’s Incubation Support
3-month membership at the Berytech Fab Lab

Lebanese Agripreneurs of the Year

Food Sight: 2020

FoodSight is an online platform that helps SME food manufacturers in overcoming their food safety challenges by enabling coherent communication and connection between food chain stakeholders and experts, while offering access to sector guidance and advisory services.

Compost Baladi: 2019

Compost Baladi S.A.L. is a social enterprise specialized in providing waste management products and services for municipalities, commercial establishments, households, restaurants, academic institutions, etc.

Startchy: 2018

Startchy synthesizes starch-based bio-plastic coating for fruits and vegetables aiming to offer an organic alternative to wax and vacuumed plastic for preserving food to extend their shelf-life.
