Business Development in the Netherlands

As part of Agrytech’s requirements, three startups from the second Batch of the Accelerator visit the Netherlands on an intensive business development trip.

Startups from the Agrytech Accelerator of Batch 2 who were selected to join the third phase of the program – a six-month incubation period including workshops, clinics, talks, mentorship and up to  $22,000 in matching capital – went to the Netherlands to build connections, enhance their developed business solutions, and potentially scale their businesses to Europe. The third and last phase of the Agrytech accelerator is supported by Berytech, the Kingdom of the Netherlands in partnership with Sanad Entrepreneurship Academy.

The teams, including Cubex, IoTree, and Turista Kit had an intensive schedule meeting with different experts depending on their needs and went through workshops at Wageningen University coordinated by Agrytech’s partner StartLife; a Dutch organization whose aim is to support agri-food entrepreneurs.

Workshops & Activities

The founders learned how to strategically position their startups when entering the European market by getting familiarized with what to expect when landing in Europe. They were also exposed to cultural differences when negotiating and doing business in Europe by learning to study international research contracts to make sure they get the best deal. The purpose of the training introduced the key cultural differences, dos and don’ts and etiquette of doing business in the Netherlands.
The startups were also exposed to the basics of Intellectual Property to proceed with their IP strategy to better understand the potential for IP registration and business opportunities. The training introduced the different opportunities for IP including its limitations, cost and its maintenance in Europe.
