Fast Forward 2030 Lebanon is a network and collaborative platform for businesses in Lebanon that incorporate the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their business models and use entrepreneurship to solve some of the country’s biggest problems. 

Joanna Jurdy interviewed Berytech’s Deputy GM Ramy Boujawdeh for the Fast Forward podcast, to talk about the challenges and opportunities that entrepreneurs in Lebanon are presented with. Ramy has played a leading role in Berytech since 2014 in developing the startup ecosystem in Lebanon, supporting businesses that flourished in Lebanon and expanded in the MENA region. 

Ramy spoke of his motivation to engage in cultivating the startup ecosystem in Lebanon and the most rewarding moments during his experience cultivating startups. He elaborated on how circular economy is core for the future of this planet and how looking at circular economy in Lebanon is essential to become a bit more resilient to the crisis.  

On the biggest constraints facing startups in Lebanon today and their biggest opportunities, Ramy discussed funding constraints in addition to economic and political uncertainties. While opportunities lay in people who are not willing to leave the country who are shifting to entrepreneurship for different reasons.
