In partnership with GoBeyond, IM Capital will be launching a Masterclass for Business Angels (MBA) starting September 2016, a one-year program that will take 20-30 novice angel investors through a ‘learn and earn’ methodology consisting of an education and an investment track in MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises). With an entry ticket of $15K and 50% Capital Guarantee by IM Capital, novice Business Angels will learn, connect, and build a portfolio of high potential startups.
In this respect, IM Capital organized an information session on the MBA, in the presence of Brigitte Baumann, CEO and co-founder of GoBeyond, on Friday June 3, 2016, at Berytech Digital Park. Dr. Nicolas Rouhana, General Manager of IM Capital, opened the session with a welcome note to a group of 50 attendees including Former Minister Mr. Nicolas Sehnaoui, as well as key ecosystem players, interested investors, and a WorldBank delegation. He was followed by a brief by Brigitte Baumann on GoBeyond’s investing background, highlighting successful angel investing portfolio performance and key success factors. Dr. Rouhana then presented the Seeders MBA program including the education and investment tracks. Both speakers then answered the questions of a highly involved audience. The session was concluded with a testimonial by MEVP Managing Partner Mr. Walid Hanna whereby he shared his experience as a seasoned angel in Lebanon, praising the initiative at consolidating business angels’ activities as necessary to the growth of early-stage ventures and providing pipelines for the venture funds.
The information session triggered great interest among the large crowd of attendees, resulting in the immediate signing of letters of intent by 10 early-bird motivated future business angels, with equal interest from men and women.
“Many thanks for inviting me, and I enjoyed the angel briefing. I would be interested to learn how the model progresses, good luck with it and please keep me in the loop.” said Justin Hill Senior Private Sector Specialist, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, World Bank, Washington.
“I rarely see such motivation and enthusiasm in angel groups” said Brigitte Baumann. “You are going to do great, and I am ready to invest $15K in this program.”
The program’s official launch will take place on July 12 in the presence of entrepreneurs, angel investors, VCs, banks, private sector representatives, universities, Chambers of Commerce, incubators, as well as local and international ecosystem stakeholders.
