GIMED’s Support Program For Green Startups

The program empowers green startups who play a crucial role in addressing environmental degradation and challenges.

Berytech, in the context of the EU-funded GIMED Project, has launched the Support Program For Green Startups targeting established early-stage green startups working on eco-innovative products or services.

The program provides the startups with the support they need to grow their ventures, build green strategies and regional business connections, and have better access to finance and market opportunities in the Mediterranean.

The Program

With the objective of developing a green economy in the Mediterranean area, the program empowers green startups who play a crucial role in addressing environmental degradation and challenges.

Eco-innovators running early-stage businesses will get the chance to develop and strengthen their capacities in order to secure investments and business opportunities, enhance their environmental and social value creation, improve their sustainability, support product and service development and plan for business success in the green and circular market in the Mediterranean.

The program ensures business support tailored to the needs of green ventures and facilitates access to financing and grants in addition to national and international green networks and businesses.

While supporting the development of innovative green solutions, the program aims to contribute to creating green jobs especially for women and youth.

Startups Selection

Ventures applying to the program should have solutions for environmental and social challenges and should offer products, services or technologies leading to environmental improvements and sustainability such as energy-saving, pollution-prevention, waste recycling, green product designs, or corporate environmental management and more.

The innovative or technology-based business in the Green sector should be already validated in the market with a customer base. The startup should also have a developed business model and/or business plan and willing to transform it into a sustainable plan amongst other requirements.

Program Stages

The program starts in October 2021 and ends in Spring 2022. The Berytech team will start by selecting 40 green early-stage businesses to join the Capacity Building Phase. Those will pitch in-front of a selected jury that will identify 20 entrepreneurs who will continue in the next Coaching Phase.

The 20 selected early-stage businesses will go through a targeted support phase and will compete in a pitching event where 4 will be selected to win grant money of 7,500€ to be spent on technical and business support, and a 3-month incubation period. Selected sustainable ventures will also be given access to attend regional and international events to secure B2B meetings, trade deals, and potential investments.

Green ventures interested in the program are encouraged to apply here before September 5, 2021.
