What They Do:
Agricom is a digital platform facilitating direct communication in the agrifood sector. They are leveraging their experience in supply chain and data analytics to transform how food is procured and distributed within cities. The online marketplace ensures fair pricing through direct linkage between farmers, industries, and retailers. Producers are paid fairly while distributors save money, paperwork and consumers know where their food comes from.
Startup Experience:
“Berytech is renowned as one the best incubators in the region and has provided us access to infrastructure and expert advice that proved to be essential to the development of our idea, validating it and consequently building our Minimum Viable Product (MVP). They proved to be a reliable source of inspiration, support yet a fierce challenger as we moved forward purifying the business model and making it more robust and better fit to the market. We have achieved significant visibility in the market and its dynamics because of the MVP that is being tested in the market today and the feedback of the client. Berytech’s reputation supported our first collaborations with clients, farmers, and industry experts.
We currently have a diverse team with experience ranging from technology, coding, data analytics to agricultural engineers and business consultants. We believe we are now ready to tackle the many different challenges the industry has been facing for decades. We want to highlight as well, the role of the different workshops in helping us understand each other, filling the gaps with new recruits and refining synergies.
The COVID-19 pandemic and the Beirut blast catalyzed change in our startup. It forced us to look at new opportunities beyond our traditional line of business. Yet, it was our fiercest challenge, causing data disruption in the historical data we are using to validate our business model, plan for future capacity and resources needed. The effect of the current crisis is changing the structure of the Lebanese economy for good.
As painful as the above events were, they proved to be a major source of inspiration for the team. We need to make a difference and action needs to be taken now! We kept moving in baby steps saving resources for where they most needed adapting as new data showed up. We keep pushing forward with dedication with an impending need to pivot strategies, as John Kay said: “Successful strategy is a mixture of luck and judgment, opportunism and design.”
We currently have a working platform being tested in the market with real clients providing relevant feedback on what the market needs. We aim to keep pivoting and adapting to reach a solution that would prove to be beneficial to our shareholders, farmers, retailers, and NGOS.”
