Berytech calls for innovators and entrepreneurs in fashion, clothes and textile

STAND Up! was launched to meet the need for a transition into an environmentally and socially responsible circular model in the textile sector

Berytech is calling for innovators and entrepreneurs of the fashion, clothing and textile sectors to apply to the Growing Innovation Program under the Sustainable Textile Action for Networking and Development of circular economy business ventures in the Mediterranean (STAND Up!) project and turn their solutions into scalable circular businesses. If selected, the beneficiaries will get access to many opportunities, including advanced business support, financing opportunities, technical assistance, soft-landing vouchers and regional networking to grow their projects into a textile or fashion venture and expand it across the Mediterranean.

Call for Applications

The call will be open from February 15, 2021 to March 19, 2021 in Lebanon to green entrepreneurs, either individuals or in a group, who have a sustainable business idea in the fashion, clothing and textile industry with the potential to create ecological and social value. In particular, the call is targeting the following categories within this sector: young independent innovators and entrepreneurs at the idea or early stage of their project, students/alumni from universities working on innovative business projects, small and medium size enterprises (SMEs), industries, organizations working on developing and launching new sustainable projects inside their organization. Particular attention will be paid to women and youth. Among other selection criteria, the eligible projects should offer products, services, designs, business models or technologies leading to sustainable and circular innovations in the industry.

Through this call, the STAND Up! project, funded by the European Union under the ENI CBC Med Programme, aims at providing innovators and entrepreneurs with business support and opportunities in five Mediterranean countries, namely: Egypt, Italy, Lebanon, Spain and Tunisia. In total, 200 entrepreneurs will be supported with trainings to create a green business model (40 per country), 20 (4 per country) will benefit from incubation services to develop their green business plan, establish their business, develop their product/service, get access to expert technical and eco-design support and mentoring, 50 entrepreneurs (10 per country) will be supported to develop their investment and 20 (4 per country) will be trained to access markets.

The STAND Up! Project

STAND Up! was successfully launched in July 2020 to meet the need for a transition into an environmentally and socially responsible circular model in the textile sector, a traditional key industry in the Mediterranean. It aims at enhancing replicable and inclusive circular economy ventures in the region by developing an ecosystem of business support, innovation, and technology transfer that will lead to sustainable job creation for youth and women.
