BESTMEDGRAPE: Turn Research Outcome into a Business

10 potential entrepreneurs will be selected and awarded €5,000 in order to develop their business idea as well as receive benefit from consulting activities.

Berytech has issued a call for applications to select 30 candidates for admission to the Technological Transfer Process, Mentorship and Guidance for Business Creation Program under the project “New Business opportunities & Environmental suSTainability using MED GRAPE nanotechnological products – BESTMEDGRAPE”, financed by the programme ENI CBC “Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme 2014-2020”, that is taking place from September 2020 to August 2022.

Applications are open till December 6, 2020.

BESTMEDGRAPE objectives are to promote technological transfer, increase business opportunities on Med area by sharing knowledge/good practices among research/private companies/local institutions on grape waste exploitation.

For this project, a call for application is launched to source applicants and identify potential entrepreneurs who are most inclined and likely to propose viable project ideas.

Application Process

Applicants will be selected keeping in mind the interdisciplinarity aspect and the presence of essential industry sectors in order to ensure an effective group.

Berytech is calling for researchers, innovators, engineers, technicians, post-graduate students, instructors and professors who fit the following profile:

  • Lebanese national
  • +18 years of age
  • Holder of at least a high-school diploma
  • In all domains of expertise
  • The project will consider individuals, if you are part of a team, all team members will be required to apply.

The Program’s Timeline & Support Stages

Selected applicants will receive training workshops on integrating managerial and scientific knowledge; developing problem solving and managerial skills, analyzing entrepreneurial and market opportunities and acquiring pitching and networking skills. This training does not require any kind of prerequisite.  The Business Creation activities will consist of two phases: Breeding ground for business ideas and Development of the business idea.

Living Labs will be theoretical-practical laboratories of technological transfer about the research results. They aim to share the knowledge of the local cultivars of grapes and waste exploitation of the grapes to obtain nutraceutical and cosmetic products. The potential entrepreneurs will discover new approaches for innovating and identifying opportunities, synergies and connections links to wine and its by-products.

Networking days will gather all potential entrepreneurs from each partner country partner (Italy, France, Tunisia, Lebanon, Jordan) – a total of 150 potential entrepreneurs. The meeting will consist of animation activities with the involvement of local incubators, it will take place in Tunisia.

After the capacity building, 10 potential entrepreneurs will be selected and awarded a non-refundable voucher of €5,000, in order to develop their business idea. The selected 10 entrepreneurs will also receive specialized consulting activities to identify the lines of strategic support for to the implementation of the business.

BESTMEDGRAPE aims to turn waste from wine making into valuable and innovative commercial health products, supporting at the same time the creation of new businesses.
