Delta Group: The European Union Support though WEEL project helps increase production capacity

Delta
We applied to the EU Funded WEEL project since our financial capacity is limited due to the current economic situation in Lebanon.

Delta Group is a leading food company established in 1974, providing the highest quality ingredients from a range of more than 200 products supplied to local points of sale international food manufacturers and markets. Product lines include herbs and spices, ready-to-mix powders including baking products, pudding, jellies, ice cream powder, and instant powder drinks, along with a wide range of Lebanese specialties, and ready-made mixes.

We talked to the Delta Group team about the impact of the support received through their participation in the WEEL Project, funded by the European Union and implemented by Expertise France.

Growth and Impact

“Our goal is to expand our product range, increase our exports to fulfill demand while creating new job opportunities, and participate in the economic growth of our country. We are limited to distribution in the local market. Our competitors have a wide range of products and have already expanded in export, so their prices are competitive.

We applied to the EU Funded WEEL project since our financial capacity is limited due to the current economic situation in Lebanon. We needed new fully automated machinery, social media marketing, new packaging, and renewal of the food safety management system. We received full support for all these categories.

The European Union support we received though WEEL helped us increase production capacity at less cost and reach a wider range of audiences locally and internationally through digital marketing. We also maintained our pre-existing quality system and introduced new product varieties with new packaging.

With the support of the EU funds, we were able to recruit new staff members, increase our profits, and widen our networks. Our goal is to grow both our international reputation and our product lines.”

About WEEL

WEEL is part of a larger programme, the EU for Women Empowerment (EU4WE), a 42-month programme (October 2019 – March 2023) funded by the European Union and implemented by Expertise France. It aims at promoting full and unconditional equality between men and women in Lebanon. The specific purpose of EU4WE is to reduce gender-based violence through women’s empowerment and enhance existing institutional mechanisms working towards gender equality.
