Garbaliser: WEEL Project Supports the Production of Natural Fertilizer

GARBALISER Team - 1
WEEL assisted us in finalizing the stalled operation process, particularly the solar system and the machines required, as well as building networks by meeting various startups at events who may be potential partners for us.

GARBALISER specializes in producing high-quality natural fertilizer using advanced fermentation technology, as well as benefiting from methane gas in the production of energy. After noticing the worsening of the waste crisis, as well as the farmer crisis due to a loss of purchasing power for fertilizers, the team launched their project in 2021 and decided to convert organic residues into high-quality local fertilizer at an affordable price for the farmer, who is the first beneficiary.

The solution has multiple social and environmental impacts from reducing pollution by utilizing leftovers, providing a local organic fertilizer, thereby eliminating the need for chemical fertilizers, and providing job opportunities in rural areas.

We talked to the GARBALISER team about the impact of the support received through their participation in the WEEL Project, funded by the European Union and implemented by Expertise France.

Growth and Impact

“We applied to the program because it is geared towards women, and GARBALISER is led by two women who are driven to find solutions to the problems we face in Lebanon. WEEL assisted us in finalizing the stalled operation process, particularly the solar system and the machines required, as well as building networks by meeting various startups at events who may be potential partners for us.

We are progressing from the MVP to the final product production stage, and our capacity is increasing from 200 to 2000K/day. We were able to scale up after one year and a half of hard work, and WEEL assisted us on two main points. The first is producing the final product that meets the farmers’ needs, which is odorless and highly concentrated with high-quality packaging, as well as product distribution. Furthermore, WEEL assisted us in getting to the market stage and effectively presenting ourselves.

The European Union support through WEEL enabled us to complete our daily operations, and it is now fully operational. Moreover, as a result of this, we have been able to create new job opportunities, primarily for women and refugees, collect more leftovers, produce more fertilizer to meet market demand, assist others and spread the concept of starting a business in rural areas, assist students studying agriculture to do research and internships, raise awareness about reusing by reusing the bottles used, and use natural fertilizers.

At GARBALISER, we set various goals such as hiring more people, replicating our system in different areas, forming partnerships with other institutes that work on sorting primarily startups to support each other, as well as large-scale farmers to take more fertilizer, increasing sales points, and selling our product online.”
