Twenty green solutions from Lebanon have been selected to join the Green Applied Research & Innovations Support Program giving green innovators and researchers the chance to turn their solutions into successful green startups.
In the context of the EU-funded Green Impact MED Project (GIMED) under the ENI CBC Med programme, Berytech will build the capacities of these selected researchers and innovators throughout a 10-month program, offering them the needed access to financing and networking opportunities and supporting them to develop their green business model to bring their innovation to the Mediterranean markets, contribute to a greener economy, and secure more jobs, especially for women and youths.
“We are happy to be onboarding the 20 selected projects and to be able to empower these amazing green entrepreneurs to turn their solutions into viable startups,” comments Krystel Khalil, Programs Director at Berytech.
Selected projects span across energy-saving, pollution-prevention, waste-recycling, and environmental solutions.
Now Energy Hub is an e-commerce platform that supports users to reduce their energy bills by analyzing their existing systems and recommending necessary modifications. It offers a wide range of energy-efficient products and renewable energy solutions.
Urban Hives is a low-cost, lightweight, modular structure, erected above car height, providing a shaded area for parking beneath and garden space above. Its modular structure is designed to be easily assembled and disassembled, reducing waste and preserving cost and waste efficiency.
Lebanon Waste Management tackles the recycling of plastic and sand glass turning them into tiles and bricks.
R&D is a smart application for an electric vehicle charger with the ability to adapt the application to different chargers and smart features helping reduce the load on the circuit.
Partners with sun! is a solar convection oven that saves fuel and electricity that can be used in dairy production, bakeries, fruit drying, cans, juices, and limitless usages.
NPK uses common containers turned into green spaces that can be used to plant a wide range of products like vegetables and mushrooms.

Lebanese Drug Box is a Lebanese drug take-back program that aims at providing a safe and convenient place to responsibly dispose of unused or expired medicines.

Recycler Donation tackles waste management through a service that recycles, reuses, reduces and repurposes waste but also donates in order to help people in need.
Green Spill tackles oil spills from ships and pipelines in water using specific herbs and edible powders that alter the way of spreading of oil on water and cause its shrinkage which will help in cleaning up the oil spill along with mechanical oil spill response methods.
Solar Ray Ampere is a portable electric box that provides a green alternative power supply with electricity charged from solar power that has no cost of operation, is noise-free and has a 2 to 4 year lifespan.
NeoPlast are biodegradable plastic bags made from starch for single-use or multiple-use that they are practical, food-safe, biodegradable, durable, and as affordable as nylon products.

Froz is expanding the eco-conscious community by gamifying waste reduction through a community-based E-commerce platform that gives access to many eco-friendly products, while highlighting each product’s impact.
The Green Applied Research & Innovations Support Program offers the selected green researchers access to business support tailored to their needs, access to grants and funding opportunities, access to international and regional B2B meetings and trade deals, access to the GIMED’s Mediterranean network of green partners and investors, access to Berytech’s network of entrepreneurs, professionals, media, funding companies and international partners, and access to the Switchers National Partnership services offered at Lebanese and regional levels.
The selected startups will go through a 2-month capacity building program tailored to support them at the end of which they will pitch in front of a selected jury that will select 10 projects who will continue in the next acceleration phase.
The pitching teams will be screened based on their value proposition, their innovation, the applicability of their technology, their green business model and scalability potential, their environmental and social impacts, their implementation capacity, and finally on their pitch effectiveness.
Berytech is the official partner of The Green Impact MED Project – Positive Investments for Positive Impacts (GIMED), an EU-funded project under the ENI-CBC Med Programme aiming at supporting green entrepreneurs to better access finance and market in the Mediterranean.
