What They Do:
Hadeer is a mobility service platform that allows users to find, track, and book a seat on buses to reach their destination. Users are provided with on-bus features such as free Wi-Fi, climate control, and a clean and comfortable journey. Hadeer focuses on bringing value to the user as well as the bus owner, who is brought value by being able to onboard his/her buses onto the Hadeer platform and therefore monetize through it. An initiative like Hadeer is important since it provides a network of mobility that would replace the current inadequate PT system, and allow people to lower their use of cars, and further the development of the SDGs.
Startup Experience:
“We applied to the Cleanergy Accelerator Program to benefit from the expertise and connections brought by the team and the pool of experts. The two most important lessons we learned were the importance of testing and validation and how to keep a lean approach in every aspect of the business.
The experience in the Cleanergy Accelerator Program was unique and super insightful. We are sure that what is ahead will follow suit. So far, we finished building our MVP, launched our pilot operations, and laid the first foundations of our user base. In the meantime, we are constantly listening to feedback, always keeping a lean approach, and maintaining our vision as the backbone of every decision we make. We’re hoping that by the end of the program, we’d have launched and solidified our primary operations.
We are proud of our growing community; it is the main building block of our initiative. We understand the importance of every person’s effort to take a Hadeer bus, and every person matters. It is in numbers that the community grows, and it is in numbers that we can make an impact.
Covid-19 made launching our pilot very hard. The country was mostly in lockdown, and when it was not, the number of people commuting was drastically lower than normal. The economic crisis has made the potential very low for any startup to launch and grow. However, as a team, we believe that wherever there is a crisis, there is opportunity. On August 4th, 2020, the team was very close to the explosion (Mar Mkhayel) and we had just finished our 5-day design sprint. The explosion ripped everything in the city to shreds, except our will. We were undeterred.”
